Don't be mean

I don't mean to be mean. But I really need to let off some of the Anti-AT feeling, otherwise I might morph to be "One Of Them". Hereafter known as OOT or AT. The whole herd of them has practically made themselves thoroughly notorious throughout the World. While the early generations bring forth virtues, creativity and resilence, their seeds in their native country certainly failed to enshroud themselves with the same characteristics.

Instead, rampant pirates and copy-cats, incessant pushing and shoving in queues (if there is any), outrageous behaviors that even their government is trying very hard to clamp down on and a list of activities, that one would shudder to think of. In many instances, my encounter and experience with them were unpleasant. Probably I am over-reacting, making a Mount Everest out of Mount Faber. But what if many others feel the same way as I do? Over-reacting? Nah.

The latest news in town have them besting themselving at the art of pirating.

Do you want to be me?

Came across these two interesting advertisment on one of the channels (certainly not Singapore's Mediacock-up's channels).

Its about exchanging bodies. The first ad started with a very Zen moment. The lady said to the man, "They say if we run towards each other at our fastest speed at 1km (I think) apart, our souls will switch bodies." And they did, and the ad stopped there.

The other ad goes something a long the same line. This time involving two buddies. One of the buds said, "They say if we hug each other and start to roll 300 times, our souls will switch bodies." And they did, rolling downwards from top of a hill.

Pity though, I don't get what they are trying to advertise. But I dig at their concept and cinematography.

Picture of a bygone Era

Taiwan's DPP-led government is determined to get rid of any legacy left by ex-President of the Republic of China. The renaming of the Chiang Kai-shek memorial hall, and not forgetting the removal of thousands of Chiang Kai-shek's bronze statues, are evidents that this government is trying to score political points and to further advance its political interests.

Thankfully, I managed to capture the last few moments of an Era.

Done

A new layout.

Verily it looks like the old. Yes, the new look is a result of some trimmings and re-arranging. I am no HTML fan, nor a Computing genius. I wanted to revamp totally, but was very worried about the codings and stuff. In the end, I decided to go for the minimalist look.

Speaking of which, I have 2 months and a half before I start work. Hopefully I pass all my examinations. Otherwise, it will be hell for me. Literally.

Looking ahead,

  • CFA examination on June the 3rd

  • Probably a London>Paris>Greece trip

  • Blah, In-camp for 11 days

  • Hopefully, Convocation.....T.T...so touched...

  • Malacca Makan Trip with JC pals

  • Starting work on August 13th

  • I need to be more constructive. Perhaps a driving license, something that my dad has been bugging me to do?

    Work is never on my mind now. Thinking that I have a lifetime ahead of me to work. >.<

    Right now, I am just busy mugging for the CFA exam.

    Too much time on hand is indeed a bane for me.

    Too little time on hand is makes me insane.

    Blah, I just need to enjoy these precious carefree days.......

    Reflection 05/05/2007

    Looking at my BARE blog and the Dysfunctional "A Photo A Day" blog, I realized how my life is very much donated to other stuff. For one, World of Warcraft have been my second home, more precisely, the Shattrath City. For many suns and moons, I treaded the land as Eveningsong. I am a Druid, dedicated to the protection of the land and nature. Partnering with my best buddy, the Servant of Elune, Divine Healer and Protector, the Priest, Secluser, we stormed the gray Shadow Labyrinth, the dusty Shattered Hall and battled uncountless Hordes and the Undeads. Yes. I am Eveningsong most of the time, only sometimes Kennyboy.

    Real life brings another set of challenges to Kennyboy. I have just completed my ~~~hopefully~~~ final examinations with NTU. By right, it should be the last of the exams I will be taking as a "STUDENT". No longer can I ask for "Student Buffet", pay for "Student Concessionary Price" and enjoy a Student's life. Soon, actually August 13th, I will be thrown mercilessly into the cauldron of REAL LIFE. Shigoto suru. Ernst & Young will definitely open up another chapter of my life. Although the book is unwilling to be flip open.

    Right now, I am facing yet another exam. This time as a CFA candidate. Its a profession certification and its what I am really interested in. Need to start mugging for it since the exam is less than a month away. >.<

    Verily, REAL LIFE do bring forth happiness.

    For example, I am really thankful to ALL my pals who celebrated my birthday (incidentally its at February the 15th). To my JC mates especially, FY + CY + SB, THANK YOU for YOUR CUP + KBOX!!! And to the friend of mine, aka, Secluser in the Virtual World Thank You for your S.H.E concert treat.

    Really touched!!! As I always mention in my blog, nothing beats having BUDDIES AND PALS!!! So what if you are very rich? So what if you boast to have many many many "friends"? ***Yawnzzzz***

    And in REAL LIFE, I get to travel out of Singapore. I just came back from a graduation trip to Taipei with my University friends. It was totally invigorating after the many months of schooling. Get to have a taste of what GOOD FOOD was, how LIFE SHOULD BE ENJOYED VIA HOT SPRINGS, SHOPPING, SIGHT-SEEING, GETTING SUPER GOOD CUSTOMER SERVICE and A GOOD HAIR CUT.

    One month without blogging

    ~~~Reculer pour Mieux Sauter~~~
    There is a reason why I didn't leave my words of wisdom here for the past one month. For those who know me too well, immediately will raise to the occasion of booing me. "A reason?", you will scrutinised and re-read the paragraph. In fact, there are too many reasons that my laziness refused to pen down.
    Hence, the only reason is because I am lazy.
    And maybe, I am addicted to my WoW.
    Perhaps studies play a part in this grand scheme of blogless month.
    Oh, yea. The part of lazing around and slacking and looking idlely into the clear sky all, also contributed to the plot hatched by my laziness.
    Meanwhile, I am taking chances. My laziness is lazing around, leaving me ample time to pen my thoughts (or rubbish).
    And......
    Happy April's Fool.....a wonderful day to play crap on people.
    Last day of February
    February came and went. With only 28 days, and 29 for every leap year, we rarely able to fully appreciate her beauty. February stands for romance. February stands for the real start of a new year. (Many people will take a full month to realise that a new year has already started.) And February stands for charity as she gave away her days to other months.
    It was fun-filled month for me and a month that went by too fast. Another few more months and I will embrace a totally new pace of life.
    For now, I ponder on my mistakes, my weakness, my stupidity and a host of crap-up insanities. Sad~~~~~~
    Absence makes the heart goes wilder
    Certainly a lot has been missing from this blog. For sure, these "a lot" have been formulated in my brain. I am just too occupied to articulate them to words. Perhaps the best blog in the world is in everyone's mind. There are pictures, videos, sounds, smells and feelings. There are also silent curses, heart's desires, happy stories, sad tales, wonderful experiences and a hosts of dark secrets.
    Like the "Desperate Housewives", everyone has their darkest secrets. Everyone else tries to dig up others' secrets. Everyone wishes to listen in to others' conversations. Everyone prays that they can listen to others' inner thoughts. Of course for the more unconventionally-adept personnel, by "Everyone", I meant a statistically correct of around 95%. There always be this small portion of Saints, or simply others obvious of things going around them.
    In fact, I have small posts left half-written and other posts with a title and some pictures. I shall take advantage of this semester break to try to breath life into them.
    Speaking of which, my left-side of the brain (for the knowledge-challenged, it is the rational side of everyone {of course, "Everyone" means a statistically correct of 95%}) started screaming for attention. "Hey Kenny-duddy-bubby boy, why don't you finish your other posts before posting this? ~~~Kiak....Arggg....!" Oh well, my emotional right-brain killed my left. Shanks...I am typing with my left hand....
    This is a meaningless post for the smart people. This is just to drain the extra energy in me. I just wanna type and blog something.
    Beginning to believe
    I am thinking that every alternate friday is a bad day for me. These are those days that you feel grouchy, feel that everything is just wrong and Murphy's Law is your best friend. When even the sunny day will make you grumble that its hurting your eyes and the rainy days make you curse that the clothes will not dry in time. This bad day also meant that wrong things can come and things can go wrong. And when you innocently thought that it may be an isolated case, you are wrong. It comes in a group.
    What are the things that can go wrong?
    1. Being in the wrong queue.
    2. Gotten a lousy network.
    3. Stupid contact lens that keeps drying up.
    4. Headache.
    5. No breakfast.
    6. Bad lunch.
    7. Too sunny.
    8. Too cloudy.
    9. Tired and listless.
    Well the list goes on, with every fortnight experiencing a new kind of Bad Luck. Perhaps the reason why Bad Luck is starting to like me is because of the cool and good stuff I am getting. (MacBook, SCV DVR-set, 5 crappy MbpS network....) Well, nature has a way to tell me...."Kenneth...enough of Tai Zi Ye's life le!"
    Yin and Yang. Balance.
    I have decided to name the Bad Luck fridays I am getting.....Fribad.
    Welcome to this week's first edition of "Fribad With Tai Zi Ye".
    The Fribad started bad. I woke up feeling goggy and extremely tired. My eyes were sore and I simply cannot muster energy to drag myself out. I remembered I had a meeting with a friend of mine. I was really feeling terrible. Then to my horror. There was no breakfast. Sobzzzzzz. I decided to go hungry for the good part of the morning.
    Then I turned on my computers and logged on WoW with one. To my horror, I cannot connect it or I got the LAG....It was horrible. The new network was obviously flawed. I called up Singnet and one of the technicians suggested that I use wire instead of wireless. ~~~Faintz~~~
    I wanted a wireless environment. And now you are telling me to use LAN cable. Our conversation hit a point when I decided that he was not helping. Wasted effort, wasted telephone fee and wasted saliva.
    Then I went out.
    The friend of mine went ot cut hair while I shopped at Funan to get a router. What to do? Since the Singnet cannot help me. (btw, as I am blogging this, I saw a guy touching the side of lady's breast and powder-brushing the lady's cleavage, and all these while the lady was smiling and complimenting the guy for his fashion sense). Back to the topic. I was looking around, shopping causally. BUT the stupid contact lens was really dry. It almost fall out and it made my eyes really uncomfortable. Considering that it was the third day wearing them. It spoilt my mood. Totally.
    I went over to Watson to grab a drink. Hopefully by hydrating my body, the contact lens will get some moisture.
    And this world is full of strange people. A lady was ahead of me in the queue. She bought 3 packs of toothpaste and they costed S$12.75. Woe be on me, just because I was behind her.
    This lady SLOWLYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY opened up her bag. And SLOWLYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY searched for her wallet. Then SLOWLYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY pinch her wallet open. She SLOWLYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY browse through her American 100 dollar notes. 4 S$10 notes, a few S$50 and other S$2 and S$5. She SLOWLYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY took her time to come up with a best combination to pay for her stuff. S$12.75. Seriously, can't she just take a S$10 and a S$5 and pay? Noooooooo, it was a VERY TOUGH decision for her. It took some time for her to decide on a S$10. And she SLOWLYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY decided between the 4 S$10 notes. Then she SLOWLYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY returned her wallet back into the bag. Then she SLOWLYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY scooped out a handful of coins and started to match and mix and mix and match the S$2.75. All these while I am so confused about the true meaning of life. Just for one pathetic bottle of mineral water.
    Me and the friend of mine have agreed to meet at the entrance of Funan. I had to confirm with him earlier because my dear Handphone WAS REALLY LOW ON BATTERY. Crap man, I just charged it overnight and I did not use it that intensively for the day. Things really go bad. And it go worse!
    So I was kind of worried that the friend of mine misunderstand the sms and instead wait at the escalator entrance to the second floor of Funan. After making sure that the friend of mine was not at the entrance, I proceeded to walk to the escalator entrance. This escalator entrance overlooks the traffic junction. By right I would have seen him coming over from the cityhall mrt station side. By left, I did not. I missed him. He too did not see me. Great.......
    After dinner and a ice-cream, I need to go home to ward off the bad luck............
    Till again next episode of "Fribad with Tai Zi Ye"........
    Strange Thoughts about the Traffic Lights
    I was stuck at the traffic junction. Being stuck, I was impatient to wait. Being me, I kept hitting the pedestrian button at the traffic light. It was a magical button. I really believe that the pedestrian traffic lights will change to green magically, if I hit the button a lot of times. Its kind of a psychological therapy, knowing that I am doing something to lessen my waiting time.
    Yet, a friend of mine postulate that hitting the button once is enough. Repeated hitting will reset the machine, thus elongating the waiting time. However, the issue is that if I hit the button once. Then another fellow, who did not realise that I have hit it, go over and press the button. Then another guy comes over and not realising that the button has been pressed, and go over to hit the button. And so on. Thus, the traffic light will be resetting again and again. Thus the waiting time will be as of the pre-designated one, rendering the system useless.
    Of course, the system can be just a phony. Placed there to placate the fuming individuals, since the waiting time is relatively short, pressing the button will result in an immaterial decrease in waiting time (if indeed the system works). Hence, the best alternative will be putting a button there for show, so that waiting individuals will have something to do and a shimmering hope that the waiting time can be significantly decreased.
    Although, the friend of mine has demostrated once and again that repeated hitting of button will not render a significant decrease in waiting time and that one hit of the button in fact seem to generate a more positive result, none-the-less, I firmly take my stand that Einstein is correct. The theory of relativity.
    By repeatedly hitting the button, our brain is pre-occupied with the action of hitting and the generation of feel-good hormones that the wait time has decreased, thus taking our attention away from feeling the pain of waiting. Thus, "reducing" the wait-time in total relativity. On the other hand, hitting the button once will lengthen the waiting time in total relativity, because, our brain will be pre-occupied with the fact that the light is still red. Thus causing the brain to generate negative feelings and invertably, increasing the wait time.
    Thank you. This thesis will be submited to the annual Nobel Prize.
    A New Year
    Although 01/01/07 is just another date on the calendar, to many people it represents a new start to their lives. To me, it is a day where our languidness and invigorates itself. A lot of things is going through my mind as the seconds count down to 2007. For a start, 2007 will see me relinquishing my role as a student and taking on more responsibilities as a full-fledged adult. Like a hatchling maturing into an eagle, all really to fly out to heavens above.
    There are many things to look forward. For a starter, the new semester. There will be new people to meet, new modules to kill me and new things to learn. I really treasure all the last moments of this semester.....
    Then for the next part of the year, there will be another ICT. ~~shudders~~
    And of course, embracing a new environment in Ernst and Young.
    Pretty much, it will be an eventful year and a year that will see me grow up. Yet, there are many things that I wish that I can hold on really tight, like schooling and my youth. I feel so old. Old as in not anymore young. Meaning that I can't really laze around and do nothing. This is the price to pay for growing up. And of course, people will give me the weird stare should I start to talk about cartoons. :(....and need to reduce on my cuteness....-_-```
    Very well, I love all beginnings. The smell of freshness and tenderness, afterall I am born in spring.
    Chilling
    The Bose speaker calmly sang "Jesus to a child". The unusally cold wind danced in the room. The soothing dark sky yawned sleepily. Yet, I am disturbed by a thought. Here I am surfing the Internet. I am just randomly surfing through pages after pages, yet, there are people desperated to log on and to use the net for some important uses. The damaged network has caused the ISPs to promptly divert the traffic elsewhere, thus causing network congestions.
    Volunteers in Aceh and parts of Malaysia appealed to the international community to reduce the usage of the Internet, in order for them to effectively use the network to communicate. There they are, desperately saving flood victims and moving vital supplies to the affected areas, and I here well-protected from the elements, wasting the precious resources and now fighting with them over the use of the network.
    I just shuddered.
    Crapping up
    I think blogger is sick. I have been trying to log on to blogger proper for such a long time but to no avail. There was an upgrade thing going on, but I reckon its disrupting many people's scheduled blogging. To many, blogging is their heroin. I guess many of us here will be shivering in cold perspiration. I think many modern people are just adding stress and burden to themselves. Like the handphone, lives were normal before the era of HP. But now, one of worst punishment to a human being (at least those living in the cities) is to take away his/her HP. Yea, it will be a torment for him/her to live a life without any communicating device. For me, I will cringe in agony should my life be devoid of the Internet or World of Warcraft.
    Seriously, I am highly suspicious of who is running this place. Maybe we are just an experiment. The higher order beings are plain machines running our lives. Arggggg..........
