何アデトがくないか

The strength of procrastinating lies in the ability to organise and plan out stuff and execute them at a later date. I always stick to this maxim!

Procrastination is for the Leaders of the Future..think about it.

I have gobbled up two shows for this week. One is good, the other is less than average.

The first show.....Shrek 3....

It was the same old jokes, the same old stuff and the same old tickles. Yet, the best thing is that such never fails to make me laugh. The formula works! (Please don't go and watch 东海战. It was a failed formula from "The Zodiac". And yet they persisted to try to go to the Big Screen. No chance man!!)

I give Shrek 3....3.8 Ogre Babies out 5.

The next show.....Man In White aka 鬼阿!鬼阿!

I regreted watching it. I support local production very much, especially "Singapore Dreaming". Man In White failed to live up to my already very low expectation. Simply it was not worth the $8 I paid for. I rather pay $5 dollar for the VCD. There was a logic flaw in the show. Yes, I know, this show was not meant for the sane and rational people. I can understand the use of the "Ghost" theme, but go and watch it and you might feel the same as me.

0.3 Silly Ghosts out of 5.

Movie Gala Event 2007

Stars...Glamour...Posh...and...Pirates of the Caribbean 3: At World's End

It was just like any other Movie Preview Events. Food and wine. Chat and dine.

PIC-0053

PIC-0054

Me and the friend of mine attended a Movie Night event organised by the CFA. The buffet was SUPER GOOD. I like the spagetti and the sauce. And of course, the Movie itself. All for a small amount of money.

The show itself must be watched with the other parts of the PotC series. As a show by it self, the plot made little sense. It was an attempt to reconcile and consolidate the story-line in totality. To me, it was a totally commericalised effort that missed the very gist of its original strength. The PotC 1 was an applauded success, with PotC 2 and 3 merely a businessman holding the camera.

Much has to credit the special effects team and the props and settings team. I like all the elaborate settings, especially how they protrayed the 1800s Singapore(certainly the year must be after 1819, the year that Raffles founded and named Singapore as Singapore). Although it may not be accurate, at least, our little red dot is on the screen global-wide. Though "Welcome to Singapore" seems too tacky for me. It was an outrageous advertisement. Truly "Uniquely Singapore". Only Singapore can do that.

And in the olden days of Singapore, people DO speak Cantonese, along with Hokkien, Teochiew, Hakka, Fuchow, Malay, English and a whole assortment of languages. So they are not wrong totally to protray Sao Feng and gang speaking Cantonese.

Maybe the most absurb thing is the ending. And the weak storyline with respect to the scenes at World's End. Given that it is most mysterious part of the world, and potentially the crux of PotC 3. But it was given little attention. It was just another desert and beach. >.<

I guess only the die-hard fan of PotC series will find the third installment tantalising. But as for many others, it could be smelly bean-curb or liu lian. For me, I enjoyed the show pretty much as I guess other than the story line, the overall acting, directing, sets and special effects and of course, the many punch-lines that spiced up the show. Overall, I give it a 3.2 Pirate's Hats out of 5.

One month without blogging

~~~Reculer pour Mieux Sauter~~~
There is a reason why I didn't leave my words of wisdom here for the past one month. For those who know me too well, immediately will raise to the occasion of booing me. "A reason?", you will scrutinised and re-read the paragraph. In fact, there are too many reasons that my laziness refused to pen down.
Hence, the only reason is because I am lazy.
And maybe, I am addicted to my WoW.
Perhaps studies play a part in this grand scheme of blogless month.
Oh, yea. The part of lazing around and slacking and looking idlely into the clear sky all, also contributed to the plot hatched by my laziness.
Meanwhile, I am taking chances. My laziness is lazing around, leaving me ample time to pen my thoughts (or rubbish).
And......
Happy April's Fool.....a wonderful day to play crap on people.
Absence makes the heart goes wilder
Certainly a lot has been missing from this blog. For sure, these "a lot" have been formulated in my brain. I am just too occupied to articulate them to words. Perhaps the best blog in the world is in everyone's mind. There are pictures, videos, sounds, smells and feelings. There are also silent curses, heart's desires, happy stories, sad tales, wonderful experiences and a hosts of dark secrets.
Like the "Desperate Housewives", everyone has their darkest secrets. Everyone else tries to dig up others' secrets. Everyone wishes to listen in to others' conversations. Everyone prays that they can listen to others' inner thoughts. Of course for the more unconventionally-adept personnel, by "Everyone", I meant a statistically correct of around 95%. There always be this small portion of Saints, or simply others obvious of things going around them.
In fact, I have small posts left half-written and other posts with a title and some pictures. I shall take advantage of this semester break to try to breath life into them.
Speaking of which, my left-side of the brain (for the knowledge-challenged, it is the rational side of everyone {of course, "Everyone" means a statistically correct of 95%}) started screaming for attention. "Hey Kenny-duddy-bubby boy, why don't you finish your other posts before posting this? ~~~Kiak....Arggg....!" Oh well, my emotional right-brain killed my left. Shanks...I am typing with my left hand....
This is a meaningless post for the smart people. This is just to drain the extra energy in me. I just wanna type and blog something.
Bits and Pieces
There are missing bits and pieces around this blog. Fragments of my life gone and unrecorded. Reason? You tell me. Perhaps the magnet of school work, television and WoW pulled me strongly away. Nah......just some excuses...
Well, I need to do some updates. Let me see.
1. Finalise my Phuket 2006 travelog.
2. Up my SHE concert entry.
3. Update my "A Photo A Day" project.
For blog sake, I am watching "The Perfect Housewife" from Channel 70. I simply love my newest SCV Recorder. I no longer plan my life around the SCV schedule! I get to see all the shows regardless of the time they were broadcasted. Back to my show...
Susagage Lips
There will be always be interesting people around me. By interesting, I am just plain implyint that they are rude, obnoxious, devoid of any society-deemed normacy. Simply they are the idiots of our time, bane of the society and speechlessly undescriptable morons.
There was this lady, whom I shall call susagage lips, in my CFA course that fits with the above description of interesting. Miss Susagage Lips (as her name implies, has really thick, but droopy lips. Not the sexy and succulent Shu Qi type, but the stale and lifeless hot-dog type) was very rude. Why?
I do not know what gotten into her. Maybe her PMS? Or maybe some effects from menopause? Or simply she did not derive enough satisfaction from her last night romp. I do not know and do not wish know too. The course instructor was starting the lesson. When Miss Susagage Lips burst out, "Would you please speak up!" I flicked my head around and there I saw it.....the classic moment of Miss Susagage Lips.... she battered her eyelids as if announcing to the world that "Oh please, I am so superior that my Eyelids can teach." And then, her pouting of her susagage lips, as if telling us "Kiss me. I have spoken up for you...all I need for a reward is a tender touch from your lips to my lips." Then she shook her head within a small degree angle, as if she was possessed, only that she shook slower.
Oh well, she could be some Vice-President for all I know.
Mental-note: Bring hot-dogs for her next week.
A Photo A Day......
.......makes my memory stay.
This is a new place for me to document my day to day life. Well, the first week is kind of messy as I did not take a photo of that particular day. Basically it looks fun to able to see your life via a photo and kind of remember what you did on that day. Hmmm.....hope I can faithfully document it......
A new semester and a new hair
The week started with a revelation that I will be starting school. Took some while to remember what is the meaning of "starting school". Basically it is the painful and numbing ordeal to be trapped in an air-conditioned arena. It will be an arena where there will be wars of words, battles of wits, clashes of views and oppositions of opinions.
Somehow I am tired.
Ok. Need a new hair color to brighten my life. Therefore, I met the friend of mine to cut and dye our hair together. I really had no idea WHAT COLOR to dye. Serious. I wanted my old one.
MyPicture.jpg
Could not find a better pic
Yea. Golden orange. I found it very nice, complement my rosy white complexion. But I wanted a new one. The hair stylist recommended brown ash plus light ash as highlight. Hmmm....sounds good.
Then need to bleach my hair first...I got a shock man....I turned into ang mo....
08-01-07_1545.jpg
In the end, I was not as pleased with the result. Partly is because except for the tinge of grey grey colour in the front, it was as if I never dye my hair. Just too bad I have good natural brownish hair. But as the day go by, the colour becomes more obvious, hence I did not feel so bad. Imagine paying them to dye back the same colour as my original hair color......Dot DOt dOt....
The first of school was on the 09/01/07, tuesday. It was the lecture for AB311 (Strategic Management) at 1230 hrs. The lesson dragged on. I did not know if I have not conditioned my body and mind to the lecture/study/mind-torture, or I simply did not care. I was not really attentive during the lecture. Well~~to be fair, the lecturer was not speaking English either.
Then went over to CPF building for lunch. I vote it the best Sakae Sushi in Singapore. Finally get to eat good food in a good environment.
After which, me and the friend of mine went to find the MAS Building. I thought I would find it easier. No....I was wrong.
First I headed towards Raffles Place mrt direction. Called up my friend and seeked help. Went back to Temasek House. Then suspected the red building behind Temasek House to be the MAS Building. None-the-less, decided to ask someone to confirm. The someone pointed confidently to Temasek House. ?????? Alright then. I replied that it was the Temasek House. He confidently told me that MAS Building changed name to Temasek House. Fair enough. Me and the friend of mine to find the Singapore CFA Society. NOOOOOOOOO. Don't have. Stupid bugger.
It was actually the red building behind Temasek House. >.<
Then I proceeded to sign up for the CFA course...what an ordeal.....
AND...today is the 25th Wedding Anniversary of my parents.............SOOOOOOO SWEEETTTTT!!!!!!!!!!
Beginning to believe
I am thinking that every alternate friday is a bad day for me. These are those days that you feel grouchy, feel that everything is just wrong and Murphy's Law is your best friend. When even the sunny day will make you grumble that its hurting your eyes and the rainy days make you curse that the clothes will not dry in time. This bad day also meant that wrong things can come and things can go wrong. And when you innocently thought that it may be an isolated case, you are wrong. It comes in a group.
What are the things that can go wrong?
1. Being in the wrong queue.
2. Gotten a lousy network.
3. Stupid contact lens that keeps drying up.
4. Headache.
5. No breakfast.
6. Bad lunch.
7. Too sunny.
8. Too cloudy.
9. Tired and listless.
Well the list goes on, with every fortnight experiencing a new kind of Bad Luck. Perhaps the reason why Bad Luck is starting to like me is because of the cool and good stuff I am getting. (MacBook, SCV DVR-set, 5 crappy MbpS network....) Well, nature has a way to tell me...."Kenneth...enough of Tai Zi Ye's life le!"
Yin and Yang. Balance.
I have decided to name the Bad Luck fridays I am getting.....Fribad.
Welcome to this week's first edition of "Fribad With Tai Zi Ye".
The Fribad started bad. I woke up feeling goggy and extremely tired. My eyes were sore and I simply cannot muster energy to drag myself out. I remembered I had a meeting with a friend of mine. I was really feeling terrible. Then to my horror. There was no breakfast. Sobzzzzzz. I decided to go hungry for the good part of the morning.
Then I turned on my computers and logged on WoW with one. To my horror, I cannot connect it or I got the LAG....It was horrible. The new network was obviously flawed. I called up Singnet and one of the technicians suggested that I use wire instead of wireless. ~~~Faintz~~~
I wanted a wireless environment. And now you are telling me to use LAN cable. Our conversation hit a point when I decided that he was not helping. Wasted effort, wasted telephone fee and wasted saliva.
Then I went out.
The friend of mine went ot cut hair while I shopped at Funan to get a router. What to do? Since the Singnet cannot help me. (btw, as I am blogging this, I saw a guy touching the side of lady's breast and powder-brushing the lady's cleavage, and all these while the lady was smiling and complimenting the guy for his fashion sense). Back to the topic. I was looking around, shopping causally. BUT the stupid contact lens was really dry. It almost fall out and it made my eyes really uncomfortable. Considering that it was the third day wearing them. It spoilt my mood. Totally.
I went over to Watson to grab a drink. Hopefully by hydrating my body, the contact lens will get some moisture.
And this world is full of strange people. A lady was ahead of me in the queue. She bought 3 packs of toothpaste and they costed S$12.75. Woe be on me, just because I was behind her.
This lady SLOWLYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY opened up her bag. And SLOWLYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY searched for her wallet. Then SLOWLYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY pinch her wallet open. She SLOWLYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY browse through her American 100 dollar notes. 4 S$10 notes, a few S$50 and other S$2 and S$5. She SLOWLYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY took her time to come up with a best combination to pay for her stuff. S$12.75. Seriously, can't she just take a S$10 and a S$5 and pay? Noooooooo, it was a VERY TOUGH decision for her. It took some time for her to decide on a S$10. And she SLOWLYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY decided between the 4 S$10 notes. Then she SLOWLYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY returned her wallet back into the bag. Then she SLOWLYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY scooped out a handful of coins and started to match and mix and mix and match the S$2.75. All these while I am so confused about the true meaning of life. Just for one pathetic bottle of mineral water.
Me and the friend of mine have agreed to meet at the entrance of Funan. I had to confirm with him earlier because my dear Handphone WAS REALLY LOW ON BATTERY. Crap man, I just charged it overnight and I did not use it that intensively for the day. Things really go bad. And it go worse!
So I was kind of worried that the friend of mine misunderstand the sms and instead wait at the escalator entrance to the second floor of Funan. After making sure that the friend of mine was not at the entrance, I proceeded to walk to the escalator entrance. This escalator entrance overlooks the traffic junction. By right I would have seen him coming over from the cityhall mrt station side. By left, I did not. I missed him. He too did not see me. Great.......
After dinner and a ice-cream, I need to go home to ward off the bad luck............
Till again next episode of "Fribad with Tai Zi Ye"........
Had a great dinner
Gathered the guys for a makan, but SB got to head off to Malacca. Hence the 3 of us decided to meet up at cityhall mrt station. There I was, ever so eager to meet them, hop onto the mrt and onwards to cityhall I go. As the mrt approached the station, I was all fired up and ready for battle. It was 6.45pm, the height of the peak hour. Where many will wall up the station door and resist those exiting's futile effort at exiting. I was ready. I kept my head-phones and my book. Positioned my bag right in front of me, to prevent a direct frontal attack. I waited patiently as the door opened.
Surprise surprise. The people outside actually queued behind the yellow queuing line. I thought I exited the wrong station. Thought I was at Taipei or something.
CY brought us to a steam-boat store. It was air-conditioned and the food was GREAT. Although it was steam-boat, the soup was good. For the first time, I actually drank from the steam-boat. The chicken rice, I mean the rice that is those hainan chicken rice one, taste authentic. CY ordered another plate of Sweet and Sour Pork. I fainted. It was super duper good.
Steam Boat.jpg
No food left on the table le......
And its really budget. Its those kind of food where its cheap and good and comforty.
True to our budget outing, we went over to Raffles City's food court for chill out. We exchanged stories of our lives and then we parted at the mrt station.
At this point, a sense of "Singaporeans are changing for the better" still lingered within. BUT........
Inconsiderate.jpg
There were three seats in front of me (just imagine that the Indian lady is invisible). To the left, were two bags sitting on the seat. To the right, one bag was sleeping on the seat. There was this inconsiderate lady sitting right at the centre (strategically blocked by this Indian lady). There were so many of the people without seats. They were staring hungrily and angrily at the lady and her three seats. Suddenly, I realised that I am back in Singapore. Hurray!!
And I plogged my head back to my ever-captivating book.............until........
Overshot my station.jpg
Great....I missed my station by TWO STOPS. My concentration level is improving.............
A Lot of TTDs
29-11-06_0829.jpg
There are many things on my mind now. It is as if I woken up to a ton of THINGS TO DO. Some of them are pure procrastinated TTD, so I can't really complain much. There are important TTD and there are necessary TTD, the problem is that it is hard to differentiate between them. Some necessary TTD is not as important as the important TTD, while some important TTD are not there necessary.
For a starter, I need to call up Starhub to request for a change of SCV-box. My box was spoilt. There were sparks and the ZeeZeeZee sound. I was dry on television for the past few days, so much so that I had to seek refudge in my friend's house just to watch shows. On top of the replacement, I decided to get the latest DVR-set. It can record shows that I designate. This is great. As their advertising tag-line goes, I do need to plan my life around the television any more.
The next on the list is my poor MacBook. It somehow refused to wake up. Called up the Apple help-line and was directed to the Alexandra outlet. Very near my house. Going there in one hour time.
Then I called up the Singapore CFA to request for more information. The problem I am most concerned with is the accreditation. Most probably for the next 2 years, I will be an auditor and CFA does not accredit auditors. Maybe I will try for the Affiliate instead of an Associate. But the weekly classes are really expensive, need to discuss with my friend if she is willing to take up the weekly class.
Just up-graded my Internet connection. Apparently it was faster, because the loading time has decreased significantly, even when I am using Flickr. I need to double confirm if Singnet has indeed activated the new connection speed.
My contact lens supply is drying up and I need to get another year's worth. I wanted to take daily contacts, but heard that for my degree, it will be darn darn darn darn expensive.
And the annual pain in the arse IPPT. I have booked it on the end this month. Therefore......I need to work out regularly. Really need to run and exercise.
Its a great start to a great year. ZzzzzzzZZzzzzz.........
Meeting up with my NYCO pals
Met up with the gals and guys at New York New York. I totally abhor the food there before, and was a bit apprehensive when they suggested NYNY. But the food turned out to be pretty good. Hmmm, must have changed the chef or the management. There were jokes and exchanges. Yup, they are still the same old people. LoL.
Then we WALKED to Esplanade, before we decided to head back to Marina Square to K-box. -_-'''
I sang for one over hours before meeting Derrick and his friend for the show "Night at the Museum". It was a good show. Prior to watching it, I thought it will be super lame. I was wrong.
Overall, it forms a good story and there were good visual effects. 3 Museums out of 5.
Not a good day
The story goes like this.
One day, i.e. today, one little boy woke up to find his exam results suck. The day spiralled badly from there. The little boy went to town to meet his buddy for lunch. The rain encouraged him to take a taxi. A taxi, the little boy soon found. Yet, the taximan was one fierce man. He cut lanes like cutting cakes, horned the car-horn like a horny dog and mumble and grumble to himself most of the time. The little boy was scared stiff. What was more scarier was the taxi-fare. The little boy was angry. Usually, it will cost around S$5 to reach Wheelock from his house, today was horrendous! It costed the little boy S$7. The little boy decided to make a claim for the S$2 from the rain and from the congested orchard traffic.
Angry Taximan
The angry taximan
None-the-less, the little boy reached town safely, except for his poor wallet. Lighter by the weight of a S$5 and a S$2 note.
The little boy went over to Lido to queue for tickets to Death Note 2.
Crowd At Lido 1
Crowd at Lido 2
The little boy thought he went into the wrong date. He checked his handphone, it showed a Thursday. The little boy gasped. He thought he had entered into the Saturday afternoon zone. What's with these people? No need to work? How about the aunties, raining leh, go and collect your hung laundry. The bottomline was that the little boy had to push his way throught the crowd. In the process coming into contact with sweaty, smelly and silly people. Eeeeeeee.
Finally, the little boy went up to the cineplex. He fainted.
Lido Queue
There must be more than 100 people.
The little boy gave up and asked his buddy to buy tickets over at Cineleisure. The little boy then proceeded over to Wheelock to get a place at Sakae Sushi for lunch.
He fainted once more.
A long queue outside Sakae
Food...I need food!!!
It took slightly less than 30 min before the little boy was led to a seat. Then the little boy started to order sushi.
Then a waitress came over and said something.
The little boy fainted and concussed and vomitted foam.
"Sorry, salmon sushi and temaki all sold out."
The little boy's Bad Luck decided not to eat salmon. The little boy stared innocently at the waitress, with his jaws wide open. "Sorry, salmon sushi and temaki all sold out." The little boy took some time to digest the fact. He relented his life to Bad Luck. Do whatever can you if you like..............
Eventful の Interviews
While others were busying struggling to finish up the AA306 paper, I was busy worrying about the outcome of the shortlisted candidates for the interviews with the Big 4. The hour hand rested on the 9 o'clock. My tummy went weak, I knew it the time of the release of the shortlisted candidates. I was worried that I may not be shortlisted for any of the interviews.
Soon after the completion of the exam, I rushed, ran and rattled my way to the Free Access Lab. I switched on the computer with fear. Trembling with anxiety, I read through the list. Phew~~~I was shortlisted for Deloitte and Ernst & Young. It was a few days later before KPMG released its shortlisted candidates name-roll and I was also selected.
Now the next part of the battle is the interviews. It was the time that I needed to really go forth and "sell" myself....**sobz**....???????.....
04/12/2006
My first interview was with Ernst & Young (EY). It was at Ocean Building. And I had to be there before 9 a.m.
I reached at 8.30 a.m. I was really nervous and adrenaline was surging within me. I sat there like a little mouse. The HR people are really nice. They gave me drinks, made me felt comfortable and reassured me that it was nothing that formal (or so I thought). EY even have their permanent stuff to come and talk to us. They were like our friends. Really. They crapped and they really tried to make the frosty environment warm. I was even more impressed when the Managing Director (the toukay of EY) Mr Ong Yew Huat (somehow, from the Big 4 networking night, I wanted to shout "Huat Ar!", everytime I see him) came down personally and talked to us.
{BTW, poor Kenneth has been waiting for a long long long long long long time hor. Came at 8.30 am, original slot is 9 am, 9.30 am still see no interviewer, while others already finished le.}
Mr Ong was very sincere and encouraging. He explained a lot of things to us. One memorable one was that at this younger stage of our life, we are learning the theories; the next stage of life, ie the employment, we will be doing practical stuff; finally at towards the third stage of life, things have to go back to basics and hence go back to theory. Hmmm, it sounds sophisticated, yet, it sounds logical.
{BTW, poor Kenneth has been waiting for a long long long long long long time hor. Came at 8.30 am, original slot is 9 am, 9.30 am still see no interviewer, while others already finished le.}
He showed us the design to the new layout of the new building. Woah, I am impressed. Got one machiam like Sakae Sushi counter bar. Still got the office, looks so cool. Maybe for once, I want to go to a place where everything is new (Rarely happens in my life. My primary, secondary and junior college all went through rebuilts AFTER I LEFT!).
{BTW, poor Kenneth has been waiting for a long long long long long long time hor. Came at 8.30 am, original slot is 9 am, 9.30 am still see no interviewer, while others already finished le.}
After sometime, it was my turn for the interview.
The first bludder of my career life. The wrong interview. Originally, I wanted to go to General Audit, but my interviewers were from Gobal Finance Service. Dot Dot Dot Dot Dot Dot Dot........
I went through the interview, none-the-less.
But I felt queasy. Why? GFS is really hard to get in. So after meeting Derrick at the Coffee Club below Ocean Building, I decided to request for another interview with the General Audit. Therefore.................POOR KENNETH REACHED EY AT 8.30AM AND LEFT EY AT 1PM!!!!!!!!!
The rest of the day was spent waiting for the HR department to call me. It was terrible. The wait was a torment. I went weak in my knees. Seriously, I wanted to go into EY. But by late evening, the hope was barely flickering.
At around 9pm, Derrick told me to stand by my phone. He just received the call from the HR department.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
At 11pm, I gave up. The wait was futile. I was soooooo sad. But none-the-less, I still have two more hopes......Deloitte and KPMG.
05/12/2006
The next morning, I went over to Deloitte first. The reception area was really Zen. The soft mellow light with the few bamboos decoration will put anyone into a relaxed state of mind. And the TOILET was very very very nice. It was one-person toilet. It was large and comfort. I was a fool not to leave my mark behind.......
I was interviewed by an Audit Manager, Junne Lim. She is very nice and friendly. It was NOT an interview, more like a chat between long lost friends. Originally, she wanted to ask me the 4 standard Deloitte interview questions, but I think I somehow answered all of them during our chit-chat. It went very well and she sent me off to the lift. I knew I would get the offer from Deloitte when she patted my shoulder and reassured me, "Don't worry."
KPMG was a short distance away and I had sometime on my hand to rot. I slacked away at Burger King reading the newspaper.
KPMG was very much different from what I thought. At first, I thought of it as cold and stony. Yet, the reception area was very much more professional and up-scale. There was a little writing test before I was led to meet my interviewer, Sze Leng. She was the cover girl for KPMG and was one of the fastest to reach Partnership in KPMG. A living legend I suppose.
She was candid and sincere. She geninnely wanted to interact with me and there was a frank exchange between us. I gave her my point of view and she presented her own opinions. This was the kind of conversation which I really enjoyed. Sze Leng has really opened my mind on the Audit line.
In fact, I was ready to choose KPMG. Just give me the contract!!! (I was so sore over EY's rejection!)
Later that day, I met up with Derrick and we go K-box to hit out on Jay Chou's song.
Then, nearer to the later evening, Deloitte called and offered me a position!! Whoppie!!! At least, I have an offer. Can sleep in bliss.
06/12/2006
Basically I was only waiting for KPMG's call. Was praying very hard for it. I really wanted to go to KPMG's financial audit department. Then around late afternoon, my handphone finally rang. I picked up and was very sure it was from KPMG. There was no surprise, when suddenly the person spoke, "Hi, I am Sarah from Ernst and Young." I fainted........
EY has decided to offer me a position!!!!!!!!!
Instanteously, my mood swung upwards.
YEY.....finally gotten what I wanted.
Then KPMG called and offered me too. However, I will be signing with EY.
After a long long way, it was over. It was tiring, none-the-less, was fulfiling and I had the contract. Hopefully I will pass all my modules!
Eventful の Pre-interview Days
It will be a long post because I have got a lot of things to say. Eventful is the word. In many aspects, this week is a life-altering one. I have made one of my first major decision, other than picking what degree I am taking and what lap-tops I will be getting. Seriously, I shuddered at the thought of the making the decision.
The decision isssssssssssss..........my first career!
Did I ever think that I will become an auditor? Frankly, nope. Ask me what an Auditor is a few years back, I'll just give you a blank stare.
I have accepted Ernst and Young's offer. Yippee! But the journey was a long and tough one.
It all started two months back. The hype and hussles of the Recruitment were played up, starting with the Big 4 Networking Nite. It was the first of such networking that I have went to in NTU. It was professionally done, with the Partners, Managers and HR people trying to brainwash and psycho us to join their firm. There are 4 firms and competition for talents is sure to be tight. On another note, it is interesting for me to take note of such competition. Reason being, it will be hard to find such a thing in the other industry, like the manufacturing or banking industry. Maybe there is, but certainly not to such a degree.
During that night, impressions were formed, opinions being made and choices evaluated. On my part, I was thankful if any of the firm will accept me. I did not go, like some of my friends, "Don't know choose which firm." But I was really comprehensive, I was not sure if any would accept me. Although, there were people saying that the Big 4 sure will take almost 90% of NTU people. I was worried I was the 10%.
The Office of Profession Attachment (OPA) sent out an email informing us that the Big 4 Joint-Recruitment web-site is ready. I accessed it and started preparing my resumes and application forms. The dateline was 31/10/2006 and I sent my stuff to OPA on the friday.
Seriously, I felt that I was being spoon-fed. It was a great collabration between the school and the CPA firms, making the mundane task of job application a breeze. Nonetheless, it did not feel like the real thing.
Well a new chapter of my life has commenced. But the interviews were nightmares too............next blog..........
