Day in Day out....Oh my, its Sunday, October 23, 2005 already

There is something in the air

Just finished watching the Charity show for the Cancer patients.

Simply sad.

The NKF fiasco remains a stigma.

Looking at the telephone numbers, or was that the actual amount money being raised, limping as the show dragged on, I cannot but feel a sense of disappointment.

The hosts mumbled aimlessly on.

The artistes did the same stunts, sang the same songs and said the same things.

It was depressing enough to see and hear from the various testimonies from the patients and their families.

It was even more cringing to see the artistes do stunts and to the hosts urging the public to donate. The way they did it was really really really really really sad.

"你们看到他们的努力, 也请你们拨打1900 112 6611, 22 或 33."

"他们带着伤来表演。 真的是付出了很多!”

The idea is not at all sad and pathetic. It is the dryness, the acrity, the driveless way that the whole show was conducted.

I understand that they are trying to writtle the aggressiveness of previous shows, but it does not make sense to make it like going through the motion. Doing for the sake of plain doing.

It also makes me shudder to see the various "stunts" that the artistes are pulling off. Its not interesting, not innovative, not dangerous, not motivating, not alluring. Yet, I never condone doing dangerous stunts to rake in donations. It is just that there is simply NOTHING to capture my attention.

I donated. For the cause.

I despised. For the real meaning which is lost through the shabby production.

I cheered. For the endurance and the faith of Dr William and his 48 hours of REAL work.
